Allergy Testing

Take Control of Your Allergies with Our Testing Services

Allergies are common. An allergy is the body’s response to a foreign invader. Heredity and environmental exposures may contribute to a predisposition to allergies. It is estimated that 1 in 3 people have an active allergy at any given time and 3 in 4 people develop an allergic reaction at least once in their lives. While symptoms are not life threatening, they can become very irritating and uncomfortable, impacting the quality of life. Symptoms range from mild to severe and can occur intermittently, seasonally, or year-round. At Mendez Family Care, our highly trained staff tests for the 50 most common allergens in North Florida.

Immunotherapy

While there is no cure, allergies can be managed with a variety of allergy treatments. Allergy Shots are injections you receive at regular intervals over a period of approximately three to five years to stop or reduce allergy attacks. Allergy shots are a form of treatment called immunotherapy. Each allergy shot contains a tiny amount of the specific substance or substances that trigger your allergic reactions. These are called allergens. Allergy shots contain just enough allergens to stimulate your immune system — but not enough to cause a full allergic reaction.

Ready to Schedule Your Allergy Test?

Over time, your doctor increases the dose of allergens in each of your allergy shots. This helps get your body used to the allergens and desensitizes your body to their effects. Your immune system builds up a tolerance to the allergens, causing your allergy symptoms to diminish over time. If this is something you are interested in, schedule a consultation with us and our team can help you on the path to lesser allergy symptoms!
